Blocchi continui del pc. Colpa di UEFI?

Da circa 6 mesi ho un nuovo pc desktop, dove ho montato un disco SSD per accogliere S.O. Linux (il mio preferito fedora ed un 2°, di riserva: non si sa mai.
Dovendo cominciare da zero, ho voluto lasciare il vecchio BIOS per affidarmi al nuovo UEFI.
Sembra però che UEFI (quello ospite della scheda madre nuova), per quanto letto in giro, non sia affidabile.
Dopo avere installato fedora-32 in sda1 e Ubuntu in sda2, a prescindere quale sia il S.O. avviato all’accensione del pc, soffro di continue, obbligate interruzioni, dovute all’impossibilità improvvisa di agire col mouse o con la tastiera, in quanto, qualsiasi cosa faccia il pc non risponde più e sono costretto a:

  1. forzare lo spegnimento fisico (tasto power del Tower);
  2. Avviare il pc ed uno ed due S.O. installati;
  3. Spegnere il pc, questa volta dall’icona col tastino power visibile in alto, a destra.
  4. Riavviare ancora una volta il pc
  5. Pregare perchè l’anomalia non si ripeta (ma non sempre funziona)

Allora, cosa fare per non perdere tempo e dati immessi prima dell’interruzione e, possibilmente, non ancora definiti.

Io credo che mi resti solamente una scelta: abbandonare UEFI per ritornare ad usare il vecchio BIOS.
Ciò mi comporta, però, riconfigurare strutturalmente il pc, a partire dalle impostazioni BIOS, per passare poi al ripartizionamento del disco SSD,e finalmente installare, ahimè, da zero il fresco fedora-33.
Mi dispiace dover ricominciare d’accapo a reinstallare tutto l’ambiente software che ho messo su con fatica e tempo, ma credo proprio di non avere un “altro modo”.

Ciao @punico io uso uefi è mi trovo benissimo , anche nella gestione di più S:O :slightly_smiling_face: che scheda usi ? potrebbe essere un bug del bios che è stato risolto con un’aggiornamento , comè capitato con asus sia a mè che a @aiace :slightly_smiling_face: p.s ti ho aggiunto l’eticchetta versione nel titolo .

@punico ho dimenticato di dirti quel comando va dato da terminale , è ti restituisce un link , che và copiato quà nel forum :slightly_smiling_face: per la scheda ho guardato ieri sera (esiste un aggiornamento del bios ) ma leggendo in giro ho letto che molti utenti si sono trovati peggio di prima , posta un dmesg che vediamo se hai abilitato varie funzioni utili nel bios :slightly_smiling_face: cerco di aiutarti come meglio posso perchè non avendo la macchina sotto mano , devo capire bene come è struturata è configurata :slightly_smiling_face:

Ottimo @punico lo analizzo subito :slightly_smiling_face: la correzzione del post credo che sia stato @alciregi , io ho sistemato solo l’eticchetta versione Fedora :slightly_smiling_face:

Il log è pulitissimo , però ho visto che monti una scheda nvidia è utilizzi i driver nouveau , che in effetti causano quel problema , poi il kernel non è aggiornato la versione attuale è :

5.10.13-100

aggiorna tutto il sistema

sudo dnf upgrade --refresh

poi posta la versione della scheda nvidia che monti :

lspci  | grep VGA

poi installiamo i driver corretti è fine del problema :slightly_smiling_face:

Ma significa passare a fedora-33.

Mi trovi un pò scettico. Infatti, in passato, ho letto di tanti problemi aggiuntivi che si manifestavano dopo l’avvio di un’operazione del genere. Dovrei, in ogni caso, fare una copia di sicurezza prima di tutta la partizione di fedora.

Intanto, ho avviato Ubuntu, per provare se anche lì, si manifesta il blocco. Fino ad ora il pc non si è ancora bloccato. Ieri, con fedora attivo, dalle 11:00 a sera (quindi 2 ore la mattina e altre 5 ore dopo pranzo), il blocco del mouse e della tastiera si è manifestato ben 10 volte (cioè, mediamente, 1 volta ogni 42 minuti).

@punico ma guarda che quel comando serve per aggiornare i repository è upgradare i pacchetti mica passi alla 33 rimani sulla 32 , detto in breve non hai aggiornato molti pacchetti di cui il kernel :slightly_smiling_face: ubuntu fà lo stesso difetto perchè mancano i driver nvidia :slightly_smiling_face:

Riconosco di essere cresciuto ben poco dal punto di vista sistemistico, in tanti anni di apprendista Linuxiano.
Scusami per l’abbaglio preso.
Comunque, questo pomeriggio ho smanettato per un paio d’ore in Ubuntu, tranqiuillamente, senza alcun blocco.
Continuerò a provare domani, anche se in Ubuntu non ho installato granchè, quindi posso fare ben poco, anzi diciamo che quello che faccio di solito in fedora, in Ubuntu non lo posso fare.

Ricordati @punico che gli aggiornamenti sono molto importanti :slightly_smiling_face: quando aggiornerai posta il comando che ti ho scritto per vedere il modello della tua scheda , è installiamo il driver (semplicissimo) grazie ai repo rpmfusion , è vedrai che tutti i blocchi di sistema spariscono , ricordati anche che a furia di fare spegnimenti forzati prima o poi il filesystem si rovina , è porta casini peggiori di quelli che hai . :slightly_smiling_face:

É vero, ma spero che un giorno in più non faccia la differenza. Considera anche che, dopo ogni spegnimento forzato, riaccendo e spengo subito dopo il caricamentoi del S.O., proprio per evitare di incappare in mali peggiori.

Scusa se te lo chiedo ma non capisco che paura hai ad aggiornare il sistema :slightly_smiling_face: anche @BlueCode aveva la stessa paura ( aveva paura di finire lo spazio) poi ha aggiornato il sistema è funziona meglio di prima , se però hai un l’avoro aperto è non puoi spegnere è un’altro discorso però se mi dici che ogni tanto devi forzare lo spegnimento , penso che un aggiornamento è un riavvio può fare solo bene non male :slightly_smiling_face:

Per esperienza personale ti suggerisco di NON forzare assolutamente lo spegnimento del computer… rischi che non si accenda più in modo definitivo :frowning:
Come dice @edmondo, è meglio se aggiorni il sistema :slight_smile:
Teoricamente (che io sappia) se fai l’aggiornamento i dati che costituiscono il tuo fedora non vengono persi… qualora ti dovessi accorgere che la distro che hai tirato su (passami il termine) non è come l’avevi lasciata, puoi semplicemente avviare la versione precedente di fedora in quanto è progettata per mantenere gli ultimi 3 kernel.

Finalmente stamattina, dopo 3 giorni di linea telefonica assente, ho potuto rileggere il tuo messaggio per avviare l’aggiornamento del sistema.
Ho eseguito anche il comando :

$ lspci | grep VGA

Ciao @punico la scheda supporta gli ultimi driver , hai installato gli rpmfusion repo ? se non li hai installati :

sudo dnf install https://mirrors.rpmfusion.org/free/fedora/rpmfusion-free-release-$(rpm -E %fedora).noarch.rpm https://mirrors.rpmfusion.org/nonfree/fedora/rpmfusion-nonfree-release-$(rpm -E %fedora).noarch.rpm

dopo aver aggiunto i repo installa :

sudo dnf install kernel-devel kernel-headers  kernel-modules-extra ( è riavvia )

per installare i driver :

sudo dnf install akmod-nvidia ( si tira dietro tutte le dipendenze che servono )

quando ha finito riavvia è dopo il loging tramite nvidia-setting li puoi configurare come vuoi , io in genere non tocco niente , clicco infondo dove cè il tasto salva è esco , come scheda ho una gt730 che non ha grosse differenze dalla tua :slightly_smiling_face: vedrai che non si impianta più :slightly_smiling_face: per le citazioni puo usare il tasto </> o semplicemente usare code come si faceva prima :slightly_smiling_face:

Fatto tutto come mi hai consigliato.
